Claim your Super online after your working holiday

What is Superannuation also called Super in short?

It’s an amount your employer pays you every time you work for him on a TFN basis. After you surpassed $450 for the same employer per month, he is obligated to pay you Super. By percentage your employer pays you at least 11.5% Super of your earned salary on that specific day.

So it can be a huge amount! Mine was around $2000 AUD when I did my SUPER release!

Will my Super amount get taxed?

Yes, your Super get taxed 65% of the total amount you accumulated during your working holiday!

Steps to claim your Super

The way to get your SUPER is through myGov account and connect it to the ato (Australian taxation office) services. It should look like on the screenshot below. Furthermore, I would connect all SUPER accounts first, if you do have more than one, bring up the final Super amount you see in your accounts.

To get your SUPER just go to https://my.gov.au/mygov and sign in or create an account!! Then connect ato to your myGov account! By the way, the process for claiming taxes is very similar. You also need to connect to ato.

Remember? You got to know ato already, when you applied for your TFN!

ATO
Log-in or sign up to mygov first

Connect here to "ato"

Again make sure to take out everything you see in your SUPER account (I had Cbus Super, yours might be with your Australian bank or any other provider like Sunsuper etc. or you have several Super accounts) and put it in your release application! Again, to take full advantage, make sure you know your full super amount first and put that amount in the application!

If you don’t know what the heck I’m talking about or need some help, just comment down below or PM!!!

Find "Super" on the top. For your SUPER release do not put this number you see here, but the number you see on your actual SUPER account e. g. Cbus, Sunsuper, Westpac Super etc.!!

Check here your SUPER accounts after clicking SUPER on the menu bar on the top and connect them, after that click "release" on the top right
