Start blogging right now! Everything you need about creating your personal website and get started the same day!

Welcome Guys,

I will show you a super fast guide how you can start you personal travel blog as  beginner in 2020. Either it’s for yourself, your friends or family. All I show you I personally use and you ever need to get impressions and get started!

Let’s also be honest and transparent here. Even though the set up it’s quite easy as you will see, it takes time to actually learn how to use page builders and design your blog! It takes time and effort!

Let dive right into it!

1. Name it! Impressions for your domain and registration with Namecheap!

If you still unsure how you want to name your website, or looking for impressions and want to know if the domain is still available, check out the following website:

https://www.namemesh.com/

That’s all you need to check if your desired domain is available and get some variations and impressions. Play around and type in various words in the search bar and you will get some options to choose! They will show you some categories like “Common”, “Short” or “Fun” etc. for available domain name variations.

Above you can see that “Hide Registered” is ticked on automatically so you won’t see my domain anymore (e. g. clueless.travel), but unused variations of it you can use!

After you’ve chosen your name you can go to www.namecheap.com to register it there. Just put in the same domain again and follow the process!

The minimum registration is always minimum one year! Just if you wonder for how long you can use your domain.

Namecheap – All your domains in one place

>> Register with Namecheap*

I found it one of the cheapest places where to purchase domain names and you’ll have all your domains in one place. Especially eventually later for business purposes it’s important that you purchase all similar names! For example you won’t find:

clue-less.net, clueless.to, clueless.world, clue-less.world because I bought them all up and redirected them to clueless.travel! So if you are planning to do something with your blog it might make sense to purchase similar names.

Get them all with namecheap! Too easy!

My namecheap Dashboard. To protect myself I bought up all potential competitor websites.

Some hosting providers down below will offer you one domain for free, but usually they don’t offer you premium domains for example .com, or .net domains.

If your OK with that you can skip this step and directly go the second step down below! But still use namecheap und namemesh to get some ideas!

2. Cheapest, reliable and customer friendly Hosting Providers for beginners

Here we go! Just register your domain with bluehost hosting. They are the most popular for beginners through their 24/7 customer support and easy to use interface + super cheap! Just follow the process and you will get to choose your name, too easy!!!

Again if it’s not available for some reason, buy it with namecheap! It doesn’t matter where you bought your domain, you can host it with any hosting provider! After you can point your domain to bluehost for hosting.

Same as for domains, the minimum for hosting is one year.

Bluehost Hosting

Bluehost is the one I used in the beginning because there is already one domain name included and SSL certificate for free (see ad above). The Certificate just shows google that your site is secured, but for personal usage it’s not necessary!

It’s the most popular hosting provider, thus everything is user friendly! So if your just starting out there is nothing wrong with bluehost for hosting. It’s also possible to scale, once you think you gonna need more space and speed! Go for it!

Advantages:

  • From 2.46€/Month
  • Free domain + SSL
  • One Click install for wordpress (page builder software)
  • Beginner friendly interface
  • Easy to get started
  • 24/7 customer support + strong support team
  • Free trial for 30 days, try it out without any risks!

A good alternative I still use for my domain names is namecheap hosting. As you can see above they offer very cheap hosting plans for beginners as well. They offer different hosting plans, but this one is the cheapest for beginners. Whatever plan you choose you can always install the wordpress software for free.

Advantages:

  • From 1.20€/Month
  • Manage all in one (domains, hosting, email and more)
  • Free SSL
  • One click install for wordpress
  • 24/7 support
  • Free trial for 30 days, try it out without any risks!

3. WordPress as page builder and alternatives

First things first. After you finally bought your domain name and hosting provider you can start building your website by using the number one page builder wordpress. The software is absolutely for free regardless which hosting provider you choose.

My website is build with wordpress, however I recommend you to watch youtube channels to learn how to use wordpress accordingly. It’s easy but you need to invest some time to get started like everywhere else :).

Alternatively you can try one following page builder. These are super easy to learn and use, but don’t have all the features wordpress provides (plugins etc.). You can try it out and see which one you prefer.

If you’re looking for something serious I highly recommend wordpress though.
