Best AI tools for travel planning 2025

I tried several AI travel tools for you and here are the best ones in my opinion, which really helps you. I guess they all use ChatGPT but tailored to travel, so the user experience is definitely better in the websites. (Continue updating Mai 2024)

The best free AI travel planner tool I have found so far. It's in 3 different languages available and offers your entire itineraries and even travel routes for most cities based on your interests and time you spend there! My first test for Bangkok was perfect, I would do exact the same but with a lot of research involved!
You can also print out your itinerary if you want!

Best booking platforms for accommodations 2025

PRO TIP:

Always check at least 3 booking platforms for your accommodation to get the cheapest price. Sometimes you have cheaper prices in hostelworld, sometimes agoda (especially in SEA & Oceania), sometimes in booking.com. Take advantage of weekly discounts if you book 1 week or longer (in Airbnb it’s by default, rest try out). GET up to $56 off with my Airbnb link.

More common on the Eastern part of the world. Received the best weekly discounts during my working holiday in Australia! Definitely one of the platforms!

Best “hang out” app to meet local and travelers all over the world with ease! I use it all the time when I’m in a new destination + you can ask hosts if you can stay with them for free! MUST HAVE and still underrated!

Airbnb

One of the best applications if you are travelling with friends to share a room or apartment to have more privacy ! No lock-in contracts! Take advantage of weekly and monthly discounts (book minimum 7 days!)

Best Travel Insurance for travelers

PRO TIP:

Never travel without travel insurance is one rule as a backpacker. I use SavetyWing since several years now. It has the best cost-benefit ratio and you can cancel anytime! Besides, you can be an ambassador yourself and earn money during your travels. Check it out!

Best credit cards (for Germans) and E-banks for your journey

PRO TIP:

As a rule of thumb, have at least 3 credit card provider with you. Diversificate, so that you have Visa and MasterCard credit cards. My recommendation for German travelers is DKB. It’s the most reliable one. See here for full comparison!

E-banks like WISE is a must for working holiday Australia. There you have 4 accounts details by default (US, Australia, EU, UK).

Still useful for protected payments worldwide is PayPal. Either for Amazon, private transactions or less trustworthy websites, PayPal protects you! If you still don’t have an account you should make one as soon as possible!

Form your legal business even while traveling and start your freelancer career with a US LLC!

No need for agencies! Open your own Limited Liability Company (LLC) in the US by yourself with the agent I use!

Cheapest flight search engines & onward tickets

PRO TIP:

Similar to booking your accommodation, but more complex, is flight booking. Unfortunately, you need to check all flight search engines!

What I do is starting with Google flight and clicking through there while simultaneously checking the other flight search engines. Especially, sky scanner offers you most of the time the best price.

Don’t worry about looking incognito mode, just don’t close the browsers are looking at and remember the approximate price!

Oh, and never forget an onward ticket. It’s a ticket that proves that you are going to leave your destination before your visa (on arrival) expires.

By far the fastest one for a quick look up to get some price impressions!

Skyscanner

The best flight search engine with the cheapest prices and most airlines! My favorite and absolutely indispensable!

Kayak

Kayak is still a solid flight search engine. I check always Momondo, Skyscanner and Kayak!

Momondo

The second best, but you need to check at least three flight search engines anyway!! Together with Google Flights to get the best deal 😉

Best Onward Ticket

Buy a onward ticket with a real flight reservation! I got already asked for onward ticket many times including Bali, Mexico, Colombia, USA and for immigration in general! ALWAYS HAVE ONE!

Worldpackers is definitely the best platform, followed by workaway. The catch is both are not free, but worth the money if you are seriously looking to volunteer in your dream destination!
